The Mill Valley Chamber of Commerce offers an Ambassador Program for its members, allowing those looking to increase their visibility in the community to do so with regular, direct contact with their fellow members in a variety of ways. Chamber Members who become Ambassadors play two critical roles with the Chamber:

1. Supporting our Chamber Mixers and encouraging member participation in those events.
2. Doing outreach to welcome new Chamber Members in collaboration with Chamber staff, helping them answer any questions they have about membership and the community of members.
3. Working with Chamber staff to identify prospective new Chamber Members.

Ambassadors' Mixer-related roles are:
  • Attend an informal "pow-wow" one week advance of each of our Mixers to go over details of the event and assign out any volunteer roles to be filled during the event itself.
  • Call approximately 20-25 members in advance of the event to encourage them to attend the event.
  • Attend as many Mixers as possible. In doing so, network as much as possible, specifically among non-members. Help new members meet the right people via targeted introduction, e.g., introducing the gym owner to the massage therapist. (Chamber Mixers are open to all).

The benefits of being an Ambassador are five-fold:
  • The heightened visibility that comes with being in a leadership role with the Chamber, particularly at our Mixers and events.
  • The ability to personally reach out to other Chamber members and to get to know them in doing so.
  • The opportunity, on a rotating basis, to be introduced at a Mixer by our Lead Ambassador Phil Garratt and to talk about why you are an Ambassador.
  • The ability to work closely with Chamber staff and thus, if interested, be better informed as to the role of becoming a Chamber Board member.
