Marin Green Business Forum
2010 Marin Green Business Forum
The Mill Valley Chamber of Commerce and MarinLink are proud to present the 2010 Marin Green Forum Wednesday, April 29th, at 5:30 pm at the Mill Valley Community Center, 180 Camino Alto, Mill Valley. Business and government leaders in sustainability will lead a discussion of challenges and opportunities in green business practices.
The Forum keynote speaker is California 6th District Assembly Member Jared Huffman whose priorities include protecting our environment; fighting global warming while creating jobs and building a “clean and green” 21st century economy; and promoting sustainable water, land use and transportation policies. A Green Business Leadership panel discussion of the environmental and bottom line benefits of green business initiatives, moderated by Marin County Supervisor Charles McGlashan will follow the keynote address. Select vendors will be on-hand to showcase their green products and services. Tickets are $35 on or before March 29th, $50 thereafter. A selection of food and beverages will be available.
Raison D'etre: Green business is no longer an abstract concept discussed over café lattes at local coffee emporiums; it has begun to emerge in the business mainstream as an essential element of business success and the next clean engine for economic growth. Green business practices are an imperative today. A focus on sustainability as a business strategy will conserve resources while improving the bottom line. Inability to walk the green talk places a business at a competitive disadvantage, limiting its opportunity for success. According to Kathy Severson, the Mill Valley Chamber's CEO, "In today’s business climate we must find ways to grow business while protecting our planet and its inhabitants. Its no longer rocket science, we know how to do it- one business at a time.”
The Marin Green Business Forum debuted in November 2006, a few short months after the premiere of the Academy Award winning film, “An Inconvenient Truth”. Dedicated to the business community, the objectives of the Forum are simple:
- Connect with like-minded business visionaries
- Learn how and why green businesses succeed
- Learn why sustainability is a successful long term business strategy
